Philippine nickel ore shipments totals 351,000 tons in January

According to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Philippines shipped 351,000 tons of nickel ore in January, mainly to China.

Taganito Mining Corporation and Rio Tuba Mining Corporation each shipped 50,500 tons nickel ore to Japan.

From January 2009, the mining companies in Philippines are required to get mineral export licensing from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. This new provision is to enable the government to monitor the country's mineral shipments.
